Welcome to Middle School

The tradition and values that Dr. Julius T. Wright implemented when our school began are still evident today. For over one-hundred years our school has been a strong entity in the Mobile community and has continually produced the leaders of today's society. With our dedication to educating “all students to their highest potential in mind, body, and spirit and producing in each student character of the highest possible order,” the UMS-Wright faculty does not just prepare students for college. We prepare them for life, instilling in each child integrity, honor, and character.

Mind. Our excellent teachers and administrators continually educate students in a challenging environment to push students to their very best. Our middle school curriculum develops in each student the skills and foundations necessary to be successful in later academics. Students may participate in any of our academic clubs such as Academic Challenge, Science Olympiad, and technology clubs.

Body. UMS-Wright also promotes students to be well-rounded and provides multiple co-curricular opportunities. Volleyball, football, cross-country, cheerleading, swimming, basketball, baseball, softball, track and field, tennis, golf, and soccer are some of the athletics available for middle school students. The fine and performing arts teachers help students excel in art, broadcasting, chorus, band, drama and dance.

Spirit. Middle school is an important time as the young student matures into adulthood while still keeping the youthful energy. Through our advisory program students engage in daily discussion on social issues, character building, and peer relationships. Our students learn discipline through the Honor Code, service through many student life activities, and integrity from guest speakers.

We hope that you and your student will take advantage of the many opportunities here at UMS-Wright. The UMS-Wright community is passionate about our mission to mold these young men and women, for they are our leaders of tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Brent Daugherty

Assistant Principal
