Hi, I am Anita Page, the lower school counselor. I have worked at UMS-Wright for 22 years and this is my 15th year as the lower school counselor.
A few of my responsibilities as the lower school counselor are:
- I teach classes entitled "Respecting Others" in the third grade classrooms every other week and "Building Character" in the fourth and fifth grades classrooms on alternate weeks.
- I meet with parents and teachers, when requested, about their concerns for their children.
- I observe in classrooms.
- I order, distribute, and collect tests for our writing assessment (WrAP) for 4th and 5th grade students in the Fall and for the Stanford Achievement Tests in the Spring for grades 1-5.
- I work with the teachers on lower school grades and report cards.
Children are welcome to visit me in my office to discuss their concerns. I want them to feel that this is a place where they can feel comfortable about sharing any problems that might arise in lower school. I hope that parents feel the same way.
