Welcome to UMS-Wright! My name is Blair Schoenvogel. This is my 18th year as an educator and my 13th year at UMS-Wright Preparatory School. My husband Dietrich and I have two children. Mac is in the Sixth Grade and Henri is in Second Grade.
I attended Birmingham-Southern College for my undergraduate degree in Collaborative Elementary Education. I taught first grade for ten years before going into counseling. I received my Masters in School Counseling from The University of Alabama Birmingham.
I provide a variety of services to our children, parents, teachers and staff here at UMS-Wright. These services include but are not limited to: Individual Counseling, Small Group Counseling, Classroom Guidance Lessons (Wright Way), Observations, Standardized Testing, 4th Grade Safety Patrol, and Parent/Teacher Conferences. This year we will continue to focus on being “Bucket Fillers.” We will also add a new component to our Wright Way Class. We will talk about the ripple effect and how kindness can cause that ripple effect. We will work as a school community to be inclusive and connected through, games, strategies, and role plays. Specific skills we will focus on are making eye contact, garnering skills for starting a conversation and reaching out to others who feel left out or alone.
I look forward to working with all of you throughout the year. Thank you for sharing your children with me! Please feel free to contact me at 470-9054 or bschoenvogel@ums-wright.org with any questions or concerns.
