The 2017 Cross Country season for the Bulldogs will see a lot of familiar names but mostly young faces. We will have for returning juniors on the girls' team backed up with six or more junior high runners making up the squad. For the boys, there will be four veteran senior runner with as many as 14 returning sophomore or younger athletes vying for the top ten slots.

Our girls will be trying to improve on a 4th place finish last year at state with the experience gained by the rookies from last year's season.

The boys only sent two members of the team to state last season and are looking to step their game up to come out of a very tough section to get back to Jessie Owens Park. The top five returning girls are juniors Audrey Sewell, Anna Hunt, and Emily Douglass, freshmen Brenda Ellis and Megan Taylor, with freshmen Anna Riley Stimpson and 8th grader Baclay McGinley showing up in the scoring occasionally throughout the season.

The top 5 boys may be a little harder to separate right now. The two who made it to state last year are returning seniors Evan Webster and David Ericson. Young guns 8th grader Joe Prry and freshman Tre Mitchell are pushing two more seniors Andrew Dismukes and Thomas McMillan, as well as freshmen Owen Martin and Matthew Taylor for a slot in the top 5.

The season will open on Labor Day weekend with the Challenge of Champions Meet at Municipal Park and will finish with the State Meet at Jessie Owens Park in Oakville, AL on Veterans Day weekend, November 11th.

Good luck to Coach Galle and the 2017 Cross-Country Runners!
