Meet the Head Coach

Coach Mike Blaylock was the assistant baseball coach here at UMS-Wright for thirteen years and enjoyed much success during his tenure.  While he was the assistant, the Bulldogs posted 4A Area Championships in 2002, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016, two semi-final appearances in 2002 and 2012, and three State Championships in 2010, 2011, and 2016. Now, he will bring his leadership and coaching experience over to the softball field.  Coach Blaylock has been teaching at UMS-Wright for 10 years and currently is the Driver’s Education instructor.

The Lady Bulldogs finished the 2015-16 season with a record of 29-15. They had a record 3-1 in area after regular season play. Satsuma hosted the area tournament due to a coin toss for tie records in the area. The Lady Bulldogs went to Satsuma with a chip on their shoulder. They won the tournament to become 4A  Area 1 Champion and advanced to regionals  in Gulf Shores.  The Regional Tournament in Gulf Shores would end the Ladys Bulldogs season.

Four seniors lead the Bulldogs in 2016, and this season looks to be a younger team with some strong leadership. With returning players, senior Meaghan Black,  juniors Lynn Gardner and Caroline Whatley, and sophomore , Lauren Hinton, a mixture young pups will join the Lady Bulldogs and venture into new territory  with new Head Coach Mike Blaylock.

Coach Blaylock will bring his leadership and coaching experience over to the softball field and encourages everyone to attend games this season at the newly remodeled Maitre Field.

Wishing a big GO DAWGS, for all of our teams this season of 2016-17!
