Girls Soccer

Meet the Coach

UMS-Wright welcomes new Head Girls' Soccer Coach Christy Alford.  Coach Alford is from San Antonio, Texas.  She came to Alabama to play soccer for the University of Mobile.  She was a 3-time All-American for the University and holds the record for 2nd place in all-time assists and 3rd place in all-time goals and points.  She is an Academic All-American.  Coach Alford earned her Bachelor's degree in Human Performance and Exercise Science at the University of Mobile.  She earned her Master's degree in Kinesiology at the University of Texas where she was the Graduate Assistant for Women's Soccer team.  Besides her new role as Head Girls' Soccer Coach, Coach Alford will also be teaching PE in the Lower School.

The 2017 Lady Bulldogs closed their season out with a 10-6-1 record, scoring a total of 54 goals and only allowing 23. A rebuilding year for the team, the lady bulldogs faced adversity, responded well, and are excited and hopeful for what is to come!  As we say goodbye to our three wonderful seniors – Laurel Massey, Abigail McPhillips, and Molly Sullivan – we also look forward to returning 14 players.  We look to have a very successful season next spring by working hard in the off-season and preparing for 2018.

Congratulations to the members of the 2017 team who were awarded for their efforts during the season: Corey Galle Steele MVP Award: Caitlin McIlwain;     Toots Otts Weaver Award: Molly Sullivan; Top Goal Scorer: Caroline Heggeman (19);  Most Improved Player: Sarah Meehan;  Captain’s Award: Virginia Dukes      Coach’s Player: Genie Ladd

Thank you, as always, to our fans for supporting us, and we hope to see you back at Urquhart Field next year!  Go Bulldogs!
